TangoCMS 2.4.0 "Hedgehog", our latest and greatest version to date has been released and available for download! This release builds upon the success of the 2.3.x series, bringing a healthy set of features and bug fixes that will increase the flexibility and ease of use of TangoCMS.
Improvements and changes
Many new features, and tweaks to existing, have made its way into this release which can be seen by our roadmap for 2.4.0. We have also been busy fixing bugs, with 11 reported bugs being fixed.
The media module has been made a lot easier to use, and includes our latest part of the TangoCMS Project, which is Tangobox. Tangobox is a plugin for jQuery which provides a "lightbox" type feature, and we have implemented this within the media module for your images. This of course can be toggled on/off depending on your needs. When uploading video or audio files, you also no longer needed to provide a thumbnail image - instead, a default one will be used.
We have made it much easier to manage large amounts of content and users within this release, with the inclusion of a simple AJAX search box for your articles, pages, aliases and users. Simply type in part of the article title, username etc and it shall display the results to you, which can then be clicked on to take you to manage that item.
Creating new content layouts for a specified URL is now a lot simpler due to the new 'Clone Layout' feature. This does exactly what it says, and lets you clone an existing layout for use on a different URL which you can configure.
Page load time has been improved with tweaks to the JavaScript aggregation functionality, with jQuery no longer being merged with other files - but instead can be taken directly from Googles' CDN servers.

What's next?
Now that 2.4.0 is released, we are going to be focusing hard on documentation (including developer documentation) for the TangoCMS Project. We are aware this is holding us back with some things, so we hope the documentation will make things easier for our users and potential new developers. As you can probably see, we have already started on new content for the website and a tweaked site design.
For those not aware, 2.4.0 comes exactly 2 years after our first public release, TangoCMS 1.0.6 "Osprey"! Thanks to those that have helped make 2.4.0 possible, and hope you enjoy it.
