TangoCMS 2.4.0 Alpha1, the first alpha release of the upcoming 2.4.0 "Hedgehog" release is out and available for download! With 2.4.0 we're going to bring a small amount of useful features, as well as speed increases and overall polish. We appreciate all testing that people can do, however please note this is still an alpha release and is not classed as stable for production use yet.
Current Changes
Every module that is part of TangoCMS has been completely cleaned up code wise, and the database structure for these has also been optimized. This will mean your TangoCMS powered website should be quicker, especially if you have lots of content and/or users.
Most of the features we aim to implement have all ready made their way into this release, and include:
- True 'remember me' feature with more advanced session handling - allows you to choose if you want to stay logged in.
- Custom module wrap class names via Content Layout makes a custom theme much easier to create and style individual attached modules.
- Allow redirectable URL Aliases even if that alias redirects to another website.
- Show user id/username in contact email allows you to easily see who sent the contact form, helpful for support type questions.
- Clone/Copy Layout in Content Layout makes creating complex layouts incredibly easy, as you don't have to start from scratch every time!
Various bug fixes have been fixed, one of which fixes a possible Internal Zula Error. Overall this release is shaping up to be the best release we have produced to date, we still have a few features and issues to work out - though we're hoping TangoCMS 2.4.0 "Hedgehog" will be out before the end of October 2009.
Website and Manual Updates
Around the release of TangoCMS 2.4.0, there will be quite a few updates to the main TangoCMS website to add a lot more content, that we feel will be helpful to our new and existing users. The manual will also be far more complete, with majority of modules having their own documentation to help people a long with any issues they need.
